Liberty Bell Ruby and Star Dust

I want to thank Amie for taking photos of Liberty Bell Ruby by Pretty and Polished as well as Star Dust (a custom polish) from Shimmer Polish. Liberty Bell Ruby is definitely a challenge to photograph (I've tried) and I think Amie did a great job. Lets start with a few photos of the first:

This is a beautiful ruby colored jelly polish with different sized glitter pieces in it. I've used it before and it is a pretty typical consistency of a jelly polish. I don't like the color of it on my skin tone but it looks great on Amie's nails (my skin is more of an olive tone, so I prefer rich, dark reds). I have yet to come across another jelly polish with this coloring, so it's definitely one of the unique ones.

Up next is a custom I has made by Shimmer Polish. Star Dust is a silver/champagne glitter topper that goes great with rich jewel tones. Amie paired this polish with Essie's "Bouncer, It's Me" a somewhat neon blue polish. Here are the results:

When I requested the custom polish I really wanted a champagne glitter that had a little more sparkle to it. I love the color of this topper because when it reflects in the light you get a little bit of a rainbow effect. This makes it cool to pair with lots of different colors of polish. You gotta love versatile polish! I think Amie did a great job swatching these two polishes. If you want to check out her blog, head over to Aims' Obsession and see more. She has some really pretty swatches of other polishes.

Just a Little Update

I haven't had any recent pictures to show you all but I wanted to take a minute just to let you all know what is going on. I am in the process of shipping out the 4 nail polishes to Amie and Hannah, swatch contest winners, so that I can put them up here and finally have photos of every polish I currently have. I hope then that I can start getting you interested in buying them! I would love to get enough interest at the start so that I can open a proper website and get more variety in polishes. I am really busy at the moment with other things (especially work. Winter is flu season, which means my company will be in full swing until March or April) but I want to get the ball rolling!

I have a way to buy polishes directly from this blog with any PayPal account. I have two tabs at the top next to the home page tab, one for each brand that I currently carry. I figure this is an easy way to get you guys to see if you like the polishes I have before I invest a lot of time (which I have little of) and money (which I will soon have zero of...) into a website.

Also, I would love any suggestions or comments you all have. What polishes would you one day like to see? Are there any colors of polish you've always dreamed of that you never seem to be able to find? Are there any trends you want more colors for? Let me know! I'd also like to remind everyone that the giveaway ends this week!

Thanks for putting up with my delays. I'll post pictures of the other polishes as soon as the girls have swatched them!

Shimmer Polish, part one

Hello all,

Sorry for how slow I am to swatch/update this blog. If you're a fan of my facebook page then you have already seen the two polishes that I am about to show you here. I will try and get the other two swatched sometime this week, but I can't promise anything. The weather here has been pretty overcast and my nails keep breaking! Also, I'm very busy with something secret, so that's taking up some of my time too. But I digress! Let me show you two glitter polishes from Shimmer Polish. Let's start with Vivian.

Vivian is a gorgeous glitter polish with brown, copper, and blue glitter pieces. It builds very well so it can be worn alone or as a semi-opaque topcoat. I paired it with a copper shimmer polish that I made myself. Vivian has a light brown base color too it as well. It's somewhat of a jelly but I really wouldn't call it a jelly polish. Whatever it is doesn't really matter. I chose this polish because I love how she made brown look so beautiful.

Up next is Cassandra (which has its own dedicated blog post, so I won't be offended if you skip over this). This one was really hard to photograph because of the lack of sunlight, for which I apologize. Cassandra is a beautiful pearl/white glitter topcoat. This does not build very well, so I would recommend layering it over white or another light color (I might try it with a soft pink next time!) This polish is cool because it kind of has a different effect depending on what color is underneath. In this photo you can see some pink and yellow flecks in the glitter. I've seen it under a white polish and the colors that come out are more in the blue family (the same is true if you're patient enough to wear it without any undies). I really love this color. It's so delicate. It looks almost bridal in how sweet it is.

I have two other polishes to swatch from Shimmer Polish, one being a custom she made just for me and my shop (which I'm going to start running on this blog first). I can't wait to see what the custom looks like on the nail. I'm so insane for not trying it out yet! Thanks for reading.

Shimmer Polish's "Cassandra"

I finally have had time to do a simple swatch on my actual nails (ignore the broken ring finger please). I swatched "Cassandra" over butterLONDON's "Fiver" (I know, I know, it's not an indie polish). All I really did was attempt a glitter gradient since my nails are too short for anything more. Here is the best swatch I could get with the fading amount of light out:

Cassandra

This is a white glitter topcoat that has the effects of little sparkling diamonds. It's a great top coat for any light colored polish. It really adds a little pizzazz to a soft pastel. The formula is a bit thick, but nothing that you can't handle from a glitter polish. I will see if I can get better photos tomorrow.

Want to win a bottle of this polish? You can! Here is the rafflecopter widget:

On my facebook page I announced that I will announce something in the near future ;) Take a guess. If you win the giveaway and answer correctly I will throw in a bonus prize (TBD).

Greetings!

Thanks for reading this blog post. I will try and update this as quickly as I can. I decided that it would be easier to sell what little polishes I have now through this blog. I currently have five different polishes from Pretty and Polished (including two customs) and four from Shimmer Polish (including one custom). I was told that I will be receiving samples from Pahlish but the first round was lost in the mail and I have yet to see round two. I currently have two in the "SHOP" tab and I will add more as they arrive. If you order any in the near future it may take a little while for me to ship them, as I have yet to pick up shipping supplies (I will order some ASAP). I ask you please be patient with me; I am new at this but I want to bring you polish you will love! Here are photos of the current polishes in the shop:
